Since the 1800s, the Camut family has grown 115 acres of apple trees in the Pays d'Auge, the finest growing region for Calvados. In Normandy, 800 types of apples are grown; the Camut family grow about 25 of these, all of which are hand-harvested.
While pears are allowed in Calvados (actually mandatory in the Domfrontais region with a minimum of 30%), only apples grown on the Camut property are used in Camut Calvados. Cider is made from these apples and … more

Biodynamic. Together with its sister-in-arms, Cuvée Edmond, Dix-Neuf is the antithesis of modern 'textbook' Sancerre. This jaw-dropping Sancerre is drawn from the oldest vines in the Moussière vineyard (approximately 100 years of age) cropped at Grand Cru Burgundy-level yields (in fact, the lower end of this range). The wine was fermented and raised in 2,000-litre, tronconique wooden tanks for 12 months before a spell in steel, again on lees. Only 500 cases per year get to see the light of … more

Petite Moussière is Mellot's entry-level Pinot, drawn from younger vines on the Saint-Doulchard marls of La Moussière. Although the name of the wine suggests something light and crunchy, even here there is a lovely plumpness of fruit and vinous depth. Saying that, Alphonse Mellot is aiming for a more open and approachable style here, so this fruit experiences more delicate maceration and shorter aging than for the Moussière proper.

"One of the most talented winemakers in the Loire - he farms his 40 hectares in a method close to biodynamic. His whole range of wines have drive, and are regularly among the best wines in and around Saumur. The whites have remarkable finesse and are extremely delicate. Also, they are chenins that are agreeable young, which is sufficiently rare as to be emphasized. His reds are at the same level. Good vine age counts for a lot, his talent … more

Bastide Saint-Dominique estate can be discovered in the heart of Provence, at the foot of the hills of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, facing the gusts of the mistral and under a relentless sun. Built around a former 16th century chapel, the estate was created in 1976 by Gérard and Marie-Claude Bonnet with a handful of plots. Over time and with a strong will, they develop their vineyard which now reaches 50 hectares in production in Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages, Cairanne, … more

This 1971 vintage, bottled in 2020, has aged in oak barrels for 49 years in the Castarede cellars. It has deep aromats of rich fruit, candied fruit, groundnuts, intense orange peel & almond.
The palate is rich, powerful, slightly warm, full of character and with very good length.

100% Pinot Noir from Clouet's best plots, dubbed by Jean-Francois Clouet "the golden square of Bouzy".
It is 50% current vintage fermented in old Sauternes barriques & 50% solera reserve wine - the estate's best reserve wines dating from 2001. The wine ages sur lie in bottle for a number of years before it receives a low 6-grams per liter dosage.
Cuvée 1911 commemorates the year riots broke out in the Champagne region as the local farmers rebelled against the … more

100% Pinot Noir.
I just can't get enough of it - especially at this price. The Andre Clouet grande reserve brut is a delicious wine made from 100 per cent pinot noir with all the richness and definition that variety offers. There's plenty of fine bead, red fruits mingled with citrus, and earthy, warm spice (think star anise and cinnamon), zesty and dry on the finish. It builds on the palate and is quite voluptuous, almost full- bodied for champagne, … more
