A blend of Tinta Negra & Malvazia.
Very fine indeed on the nose, which has a lovely brandy lift over tin-smoked billy tea, toffeed banana, sticky red dates and a molasses touch. The nose is fresh and direct, wildly interesting but well-mannered and composed, with beautifully controlled traces of complexing volatile compounds. Smoked tree boughs and truffly earth keep all the dense pruney, plumskin and juicy sweetness very tidy, and a spitfire acid freshness counters every gram of gooey sweetness.

A classic example of Eden Valley Riesling from a benchmark producer. Showing consistently delicious wines, the nose on this wine sings sweetly of lime blossom and citrus pith, while the palate gives us more sumptuous notes of pineapple skin and dried rosemary, finishing with a talc-like minerality.

Gaillard has captured that perfect balance of hedonistic opulence and mineral refreshment in a way that only Condrieu can produce. His pared back winemaking style provides the perfect canvas for the wine to paint its own picture on, one of ripe yellow peaches, summer honeysuckle blossoms and fragrant spice.

"Dark red robe. The bouquet has a comfortable depth, with the promise of opening and variety; there is a mass of black berry fruits for now. The palate has a suave tone, a cosy middle, carries gourmand appeal, the fruit on mixed red and black berries, a spur of freshness in the ferrous tannins. It's wild in a good way on the second half, has character, the length nicely sustained. From late-2024." John Livingstone-Learmonth, Drink Rhône

Tense, edgy and savoury on release, it’s blossomed with a further six months in bottle into a merry celebration of the freshness of Cuis, the quintessential apéritif and one of the most pristine champagnes for its price. Freshness and purity of lemon and crunchy nashi pear are well toned by the texture and complexity of bottle maturity, lending bready, biscuity nuances and drawing out notes of white pepper and anise. The fine salt chalk minerality of the village is energised … more
