The first Champagne to clearly state the year it was laid down in the cellars-""Mis en Cave"". This allowed the consumer to work out the exact make up of the blend, plus there is always at least 40% Reserve wines used to maintain the house style. However doe to consumer confusion the 'Mis en Cave ' system has been replaced by the 'Brut Reserve' but the disgorgement date can still be found on the back neck of the bottle. The … more

This is simply a stunning release of this wine. As always, it’s 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay exclusively from low-yielding Grand Cru vines, predominantly located in Ambonnay, but also Bouzy and Verzenay. The old cliché - Egly starts harvesting when everyone else has finished - still holds true, and it’s obvious from the first sip that this wine is made from perfectly … more

"Only the very greatest wines are able to communicate the subtleties not only of the place that has given them birth, but the very personalities of those who have brought them to life. When I first tasted the enchanting Champagnes of J. Lassalle, I knew nothing of the estate of three generations of women. There is a tender woman's touch here, and my notes flow with superlatives of 'delicate', 'restrained', 'sophisticated' & 'gorgeous'. These are impeccably crafted cuvees of generous … more
2018 base, disgorged May 2022. This dazzling Pinot Meunier represents superb value in a market where rosé wines are getting more and more pricey. It's a blend of Meunier vinified three ways. Firstly, 60% of the volume is from fruit pressed off in the traditional way to make a white wine (over one-third of this component was reserve wines that had been aged in barrels). Secondly, 30% was made as a saignée rosé (the juice left in contact with the … more

Aurélien Laherte ferments the wines in a mix of foudres, tanks and barrels, with regular stirring of the lees. This replaces the wine known as Brut Tradition, although it is now 100% Côte des Blancs Chardonnay. The fruit for this wine is predominantly grown, as it always has been, in vineyards on the southern side of Vertus. These are vineyards on roughly the same "Latitude", and this new name also hints at the breadth of texture that the wines from these vineyards tend to offer up, even when only Chardonnay is used. In the past, this wine contained up … more

"The 2013 Extra Brut Vieille Vigne de Levant Grand Cru is a Champagne of real breadth and substance that captures the essence of these 50-70-year-old vines. Apricot, chamomile, dried flowers and a kiss of oak are all amplified. Vinous and creamy, the 2013 builds beautifully with time in the glass, showing tremendous character and pedigree. The 2013 was fermented and aged in a combination of neutral barrique and foudre. It's a super-classic Larmandier-Bernier Champagne. Dosage is 2 grams per liter." … more
