This Grüner Veltliner is a blend of wines sourced from different terraced vineyards at altitudes of 260m to 380m. The elevated terraces consist of stonier soils (schisted granite). The vines there show aromatic expression, good acidity, elegant stone fruit and lots of minerals. The lower-sited terraces mostly of layered fertile loess show more body and ripeness. By combining those two characteristics Bründlmayer produces a classic Grüner Veltliner with both finesse and a certain vigour.
These luxurious "Gold Edition" glasses are mouth blown, the result of a collaboration between Austrian creator Siegfried Seidl, and the renowned Swiss wine critic, Rene Gabriel.
Their versatility is much prized as they can be used for sparkling wines, white wines, red wines and dessert wines. Importer Patrick Walsh describes his first introduction to the Gabriel Glass "it was certainly one of the most beautifully proportioned and balanced all-round drinking and tasting glass I'd ever come across."

This gift box contains 2 glasses.
The glass is the brainchild of Swiss-German wine writer Rene Gabriel, who developed it with Austrian glass innovator Siegfried Seidl and launched it in 2010. The glass has a unique selling point, as well as ticking the most important boxes for any great glass: it feels great in the hand and on the lip, and makes wine look, smell and taste the best it can. Its singularity lies in the fact that it is … more

"Grüner Veltliner Weinviertel DAC I really love this year - a really quite consumer friendly wine because in the nose we have a very shiny and brilliant fruit - with aromes of a ripe green apple, some quinces, hints of warm yellow exotic fruits and also some really charming citric notes that give the wine a beautiful freshness . On the palate it really stays long and the fruits that you find in the nose get mirrored on the palate … more

Producer notes 'Light cherry red. On the nose, red berries, aromas of dried apricots, floral nuances, delicate orange zest, a hint of strawberries. Juicy, good red wine character, subtle tannins, delicate touch of honey, nuances of dark berries, blackberry confit and fine herbal spices in the aftertaste. 11% abv and approx 90g/l residual sugars'.

This every day decanter is a perfect starter piece for one with a growing love of wine, to easily demonstrate the improvement decanting can make on wine. Suitable for both young and old wines.
Box contains one piece.
With more than 550 years of history, Weingut Stadt Krems is one of the oldest wine-producers in Austria, even in the whole of Europe. Since July 2003 it has been managed by a young, innovative team led by Fritz Miesbauer. In the first weeks of October the grapes were handpicked with strict selection. After they were destemmed and pressed carefully, the must was fermented under controlled temperature in a stainless steel tank. It has fresh, fruity aromas of rosy apple, … more

Producers Notes - "Thal holds a special value to us as it is inextricably linked to the history of our estate. It is our oldest and most traditional vineyard, where our family first cultivated vines in 1856. The vines, some up to 80 years old, grow on a broadly terraced slope in the southern part of Langenlois, composed of quartz sand and bright, … more

This work wonders on wines rich in structure and fruit concentration and for wines high in tannin. Broader-based than most 'Bordeaux' glass styles its unique design accentuates and brings harmony to a wine's potency, concentration, extract and tannins. While is comes particularly recommended for Bordeaux, Brunello di Montalcino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz etc, it actually works brilliantly with Nebbiolo and Pinot, too. Don't let the name fool you into thinking this is a one-dimensional stem.

The wide bowl in this glass gives maximum surface area, allowing the different components of the wine to open up and 'show' with great precision. Particularly good for enhancing the sweeter, fruit characteristics of a wine. As the name suggests, this is recommended for: Pinot Noir/Burgundy, but also Nebbiolo, Barbera, Chardonnay and Grüner Veltliner.
While, some glassware manufacturers seem intent on steering decanter design into the realm of flamboyant objets d'art, Zalto craft only two, function-over-form designs. They both look and handle with style but more importantly; they are practical and just work brilliantly. The Axium is the smaller of the two and is designed for medium-bodied red wines and medium to full-bodied white wines.
The Mystique is designed for all full-bodied red wines, in particular young powerful red wines that require a bigger surface/air ratio for the enhanced exposure of the wine's individual characteristics and finer nuances. Also ideal for decanting magnums.

This glass is designed for full-bodied and powerful wines, with its shape allowing both the wine's depth and intensity to shine through, whilst still accentuating its underlying complexity and finesse.
Specially recommended for: Chardonnay, Chianti, Riesling and wines from the Wachau.

Zalto recommend this glass for Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and the like, as well as lighter-bodied reds. If you are familiar with the popular Riedel Riesling/Sangiovese glass, this would be your closest match. Its use is far from limited however. We use this glass for sherries, sparkling wine and even spirits (when Melanie Tesseron of Cognac Tesseron was in Australia this was the glass used at the tastings. It can work perfectly well as a general glass for both … more
