Claríto ("the little clear one") is roughly 50-50 Garnacha and Viura. 3,500 kg of Garnacha at 14% abv comes from 80yo bush-vines from the Briones municipality, grown in the foothills between Oullar i and Hormilla. We're in the Najerilla Valley, heading south up into the pebbly chalk/red sand foothills under Sierra de la Demanda. These foothills are the traditional home of Clarete and the field blend vineyard that we've secured was purposefully planted for Clarete.

A brilliant wine which is produced in Montilla-Moriles and is 100% Pedro Ximinez fruit and made in exactly the same way as the Sherry from Jerez.
This is not a 1927 vintage PX, rather the 1927 refers to when the Solera this PX is drawn from was created.

Alvear Pedro Ximénez de Añada is a vintage dated sweet wine from the estate's Pedro Ximénez vineyards. The grapes are harvested at typical levels of ripeness, and dried in the blazing Montilla sun on mats in the vineyards. The wine is vinified in open clay amphora, and fortified to halt the fermentation.
"All Pedro Ximenex that was sundried and pressed into amphora, the 2017 Pedro Ximenez De Añada reveals a deep amber/honey color as well as beautiful notes of caramelized … more

Named 'Pies Negros' - literally, black feet - for the long-standing practice of foot stomping the Tempranillo that goes into this wine, Artuke nods to both the rarity of traditional small-scale winemaking in Rioja, to modernity with a vibrant, fresh and eminently drinkable Rioja.
You'd be hard pressed to find a more charming Rioja at under $30 than this drop from Artuke. 95% Tempranillo with a splash of Viura, this wine is packed with fragrant aromas of fresh violet, pomegranate juice and blackberries. Drink as you would a light Pinot or a nouveau Beaujolais.
There are few things in life more fun than drinking a glass of Txakoli. It's spritzy and fresh, with gorgeous white stone fruit notes and a hint of almost sandy minerality. If you want the full Basque experience however, then brush up on your Catalan so you can Txotx your Txakoli, and pair with pintxos when you go out to Txiketeo.

"Ripe, tarry plums and black cherries with violets, rocks, coffee and graphite. Refined notes of balsamic fruit and cocoa powder, too. Full-bodied and juicy with an iron fist of tannins, yet at the same time so velvety and polished. Very long, focused finish, showing lots of finesse and layers. Drinkable now, but better after 2025." 95/100. James Suckling

Bodegas Barrero are an undiscovered treat here in Australia. Much used by the Navazos project, this bodega makes some wonderful Sherries, of which this is a terrific starting point.
This is superb value.
Classic flor notes dominate the aromatics, but don't overpower the wine - there are still nuances of fresh bread, almond and saline notes. The palate is quite delicate but wonderfully fresh with excellent racy, salty flor-driven Manzanilla character.

El Maestro's Amontillados are aged for six years under a full flor before being fortified and aged for at least another six years.
El Maestro Sierra Amontillado displays a delicate blend of roasted almonds, dried apple and more oxidative caramel and cedar characters. Like all the El Maestro Sierra wines, Amontillado is bottled en rama: with minimal fining or filtration.' Notes from the importer

'The Oloroso 15 años is the youngest Oloroso produced by this house. The fact that it comes with an age statement (other than the official VOS and VORS) is quite rare in the Jerez region. [...] dry, nutty start. Hazelnuts, brazil nuts. Umami notes of beef stock and dried mushrooms. On the other end of this earthy, darker side there is a brightness of bitter oranges and fresh figs.' 'A rich nose with intense flor. Cashew and walnuts, with hints of toasted pumpkin seeds. Some ripe apple. Briney olive juice. Light rancio notes as well, even a few cheesy hints which work well here. [...] A really characterful Fino that is a great ambassador for this artisan bodega.' SherryNotes.com
