Alvear Pedro Ximenez '1927' Dulce Viejo
A brilliant wine which is produced in Montilla-Moriles and is 100% Pedro Ximinez fruit and made in exactly the same way as the Sherry from Jerez.
This is not a 1927 vintage PX, rather the 1927 refers to when the Solera this PX is drawn from was created.

Beloki Crianza DOCA Tempranillo 2019
Crianza is a labelling term that sits one above Joven (young, unoaked), and one below Reserva (3 years ageing). You'll find great value and young drinking wines in this tier - as you'll see from Beloki. This wine is 100% Tempranillo and serves up an aromatic nose with scents of mulberries, cranberries, tobacco leaf and red earth. Tannins are supple and smooth, sliding over the palate and leaving a lingering smokiness.

Biurko Gorri Rioja Joven Tinto 2021
A stand out example of pure Tempranillo organically grown in Spain's Rioja.
Soft and mineral, a delicious mix of red and dark fruit. Open and expressive, with nutty tannins and a lick of spicy acidity, it's clearly Rioja and perfectly varietal Tempranillo. Matured in tank so the wines stays fresh and vibrant and allows the the fruit characters to fully shine through.

Bodegas Barrero 'Gabriela' Manzanilla Balbaina Alta 375ml
Bodegas Barrero are an undiscovered treat here in Australia. Much used by the Navazos project, this bodega makes some wonderful Sherries, of which this is a terrific starting point.
This is superb value.
Classic flor notes dominate the aromatics, but don't overpower the wine - there are still nuances of fresh bread, almond and saline notes. The palate is quite delicate but wonderfully fresh with excellent racy, salty flor-driven Manzanilla character.

Bodegas Nekeas 'El Chaparral' Old Vine Grenache 2020
In 1990, eight families came together to unite their precious vineyards throughout the stunning Valdizarbe. This unique red Garnacha has loose bunches of small, concentrated fruit that are perfectly suited to this cooler climate (growing up to 550 metres above sea level). Climatic influences include the trifecta of the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and the looming Pyrenees, with cool winds keeping heat down and disease at bay.
