Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Cicala 2016
The Poderi Aldo Conterno 2016 Barolo Bussia Cicala offers a ripe fruit profile with layers of menthol and medicinal herb. The finish is beautiful, long and chalky, and you don't get as much alcohol in the Cicala (compared to Romirasco). The fruit is dried and streamlined, and this wine does show good
promise for aging. The tannins are beautiful, coating your teeth and palate with no bitter edge.

Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello 2016
The Poderi Aldo Conterno 2016 Barolo Bussia Colonnello shows dark fruit intensity, dried cherry, spice, licorice and tilled earth. The wine delivers its aromas in a direct and immediate manner, with menthol and balsam herb fitting into oaky aromas of sweet spice. For whatever reason, I notice the oak more in Colonnello, but this will relax with time. The wine will be ready to drink after the 10-year mark.

Poderi Colla Barbaresco Roncaglie 2019
Tenuta Roncaglia has always been recognised as one of the most prestigious and important Barbaresco production areas (also mentioned by Lorenzo Fantini in his book "Monograph on Viticulture and Oenology in the Province of Cuneo"1880). Alessandro Masnaghetti writes in his "Map of Barbaresco Cru, 1994: "...the position of Roncaglie, together with Roncagliette, is one of the best we can see on the side of the hill that begins at Roccalini and rises towards Treiso...". And Daniel Thomases, in the Wine … more

Polperro Mornington Pinot Gris 2023
Producer Notes - Puzzle of complexity, Intricately woven aromatics of bergamot and lemon myrtle with a lick of vanilla bean. Fresh granny smith apple and finger lime fruit profile and complex aromatics are woven tightly. Need wide glass. Palate is silky and finessed with a textural element tapering the palate gently. The palate has generous orchard fruit (apple, nashi) with an element of spiced pear, spiced pear jam adding another layer. A lot to unpack!

Pooley Cooinda Vale Pinot Noir 2023
The aroma exhibits rich and ripe red fruit, extreme vibrancy of red currants, cranberry, cherry, vanilla and rhubarb with a light fennel note and orange zest lingering. The aroma then extends onto the palate with the added complexity of a toasty char, poached rhubarb, bitter raspberry and violet notes. Combining into a long, soft textural mouth feel. A fine line of silky tannin keeps you going back for more.

Primitivo Quiles Moscatel 375ml
A Mistella, it's pressed must and fortifying spirit, leaving 200g/l of residual sugar. Really great as an aperitif/afternoon drink on ice, or with fruit and nut snacks. And a very good cheese wine, thanks to its excellent round, earthily-ripe acidity.
Fragrant, almost headily so fruity, fresh, floral with some nice wild exuberant earthiness. Smells of oranges, straw, billy tea and raisiny grapiness. Full-bodied, but not too sweet. Moscatel hedonism, and a bargain.

Primitivo Quiles Vermouth 1Lt
A stellar and affordable vermouth from Alicante in Spain, made from the Monastrell (Mourvedre) grape. Senor Don Primitivo Quiles is one of the great figures of Spanish wine. His bodega in Monovar is the oldest in Alicante (since 1780), and probably in all the comunidad Valenciana. Although most known for making Fondillon, an aged, unfortified sherry styled wine, P. Quiles also makes wonderful red wines and this hard to find vermouth. Spice loaded, slightly sweet and heady and from one … more

Prinz Jungfer GG Riesling Trocken 2020
98 points! 'At first, a biscuity note that reminds me of Champagne, but then a delicate and cool, peachy aroma comes through. I wanted to write that this has stunning concentration and brilliance, but actually it's just like a laser beam that shoots across your palate, leaving you stunned and delighted. Enormous mineral freshness. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold'
