Kalleske Plenarius Viognier Orange Wine 2023

Though this isn't the first vintage that old school Barossan producer Kalleske has been making this wine, we are always pleasantly surprised to see it. Not just because one doesn't traditionally associate Barossa with the new-school orange wine craze, but also because far from being a gimmick - it a pretty spectacularly delicious wine. 100% biodynamic single-vineyard Viognier, wild fermented and left on skins for 11 days. It has sumptuous Viognier character, ripe golden peaches, wafts of bush honey, glace … more

Keller Limestone Riesling Trocken 2022

In order to make the famous Keller GGs, some grapes are harvested from the best-sited mature vines, very close to the start of vintage, to allow the remaining small number of bunches on each vine to ripen un-hindered. These earlier-picked bunches (from the likes of Morstein, Abtserde etc.) are higher in acidity and perfect for a very lively, juicy, nectarine-inflected slightly sweet and "mineral-laden" ageable and great white. The style of the Limestone is saline and bursting with stony, edgy, juicy fruit … more

Keller Nierstein Hipping Riesling Trocken Grosses Gewächs 2020

"If I had to choose one wine to show how great dry German Riesling can be I would choose a Keller Riesling. Those wines are the German Montrachets" - Jancis Robinson

The Hipping site is quite steep and facing the Rhine with red shale and slate soils. Often leaner and tighter with a more refined herbal mineral style. The slope is on an 80% incline at it's steepest.

Keller Riesling Grosse Largen "RR" 2022

"There is a patch of red limestone in the Kirchspiel Grossen Lagen that makes a cask of exotic slightly wild wine that desn't always ferment to complete dryness. This is the normal "RR". In 2022 KP and Felix also had a cask each of top-class Abtserde and Morstein (destined for GG's) that also stopped fermenting at about 12g/l residual. The temptation was too great to create a "super cuvee" and the 3 were blended to greatness.

KP has joked to … more

"Exotic citrus nose, spiced like ginger, 'spice' in the texture as well as the flavour. Ripe citrus yet balanced by intense freshness. Slightly chewy texture. Firm, dense but lively freshness on the finish, spicy on the finish. 17/20 points" jancisrobinson.com

Kilikanoon Killerman's Run Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Classically Cabernet-esque aromas of blackcurrant and cassis leap out of the glass here, leaving behind wafts of tobacco leaf and wood smoke. Richly flavoured and with fine texture, these scents carry confidently on to the palate with generous but ripe tannins and smoky oak influence.

Kolonne/Null (by Axel Pauly) Mosel Riesling 2023 [Non-Alc]

Kolonne Null is very similar to the alcoholic alternatives. You don't need to have a perfect wine palate to recognize the flavors and different varieties. The alcohol is carefully removed and replaced with a delicate amount of fine sugars leaving the essential aromas, acids, and vital phenols that make wine so enjoyable. The sugars help orchestrate the symphony between all of the fruits and aromas that leave the wonderful wine flavor completely intact.

"Instead of the usual exotic fruit notes, … more

Koomilya DC Block Shiraz 2018

A single-block Shiraz from 46-year-old vines with a south-eastern exposure at an altitude of 108m. Soils are dark-grey, slaty siltstone thinly laminated with ironstone. Hand harvested on 4th March at yields of 3 tonnes/hectare. The fruit underwent spontaneous fermentation with 22% whole clusters included, and the juice spent 11 days on skins. It was settled over 8 days. It was then moved to second- and third-use French oak puncheons for malolactic conversion and 20 months' maturation. It was racked twice … more
