Laphroaig, founded in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston, has an extremely rich history; neighbourly disputes with Lagavulin and many ownership changes to name a couple. The 10 Year Old Single Malt is Laphroaig's signature malt that is full sparkling gold in colour and has that signature rich smoke and seaweed character with a hint of sweetness. Surprisingly the palate is rich with subtle sweet hints and complex layers of salt and peatiness that evolve on the palate and … more
The names Charmes was first mentioned back in 1366, and is a corruption of Chaume, which means land without vegetation. The land is flat with deep soil that grows frank, strong wines that are characterised more by intensity than finesse. The size of the vineyard (at 31 hectares, it's the largest premier cru in Meursault) makes it difficult to generalise, but hazelnuts, butter, peach and vanilla characters are common. Domaine Latour-Giraud owns 50 ares of vines divided between lower (Dessous) … more

Pommard is a very old village and sits on the site of an ancient temple Christian, built by the Gauls and dedicated to Pomona, the goddess responsible for fruit protection. In the years 1005, the name of the village became "Polmarium" or "Polmarca" and underwent several subsequent changes before to become "Pommard". The Cuvée Carmen represents the blend of two vineyards located furthest the west of the village. The wine is characterized by aromas of blackberry and blueberry, accompanied by … more

Distrbutors Notes "This year's Stagiaire blend draws on fruit from Balnarring (65%), Merricks North (19%) and Tuerong (16%). The Merricks North parcel is drawn from the latest addition to Garagiste's bench of great Mornington sites. Planted in 1996, the vines lie in similar brown loamy soils to those at the flagship Merricks Grove site located close by. Sorted in the vineyard and winery before being pressed as whole bunches to 500-litre puncheons, this wine is wild fermented with no temperature … more

Distrbutor Notes "Garagiste's new Merricks North 'fermage', home to 30-year Dijon clones, plays a starring role in this year's Stagiaire blend, accounting for 40%. The balance comprises fruit from Barney's Balnarring (44%), Red Hill (10%) and Merricks Grove (6%) sites. Balnarring, Red Hill and Merricks Grove are all MV6 clone, whereas Merricks North brings Dijon 114 and 115 into the mix, lending pretty plushness and perfumed nuance to the MV6's natural structure and power.

An unbvelievably good value drop from the winery behind Aussie icon, Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay. Luscious and rich, without forgoing balance and direction - expect notes of cashew, almond, meyer lemon and chamomile to dance around the nose. The palate is loaded with intensity that will only build as it breathes in the glass and warms up a touch (if drunk straight out of the fridge).

Dense and concentrated nose with blackcurrants, blueberries and boysenberries. A delicate fragrant lift of violets, lavender offer beautiful symmetry and balance. Laced beneath complex spices of cumin, clove, black cardamom and star anise, surrounded by an oceanic nuance throughout.
Full of energy and vitality with elegant shape and frame, again black and blue fruits dominate the palate. There is dimension, drive, and penetration to the finish. Specifically, there are olive notes, combined with dried thyme, cedar and quartz-like minerality that … more

Energetic and well poised, an array of fresh lime and nashi pear is laced throughout. The palate is ethereal, mineral and defined with a presence of natural acidity. There is an enticing element of saline, wet stone and phyllitic characteristic that weaves within. The shape and frame on the palate is present and focussed with effortless length.

"DW U15 Polish Hill River. One of the best Leonays for some years. Not every maker got the acidity right in this vintage, wonderful quality awaiting those who did, as you'll find here. Its lime leaf aromas and tinkling acidity are the marks of a wine with a great future." 95 Points - James Halliday

Les Athletes du Vin represents the product of hard work by a collective of organic growers in the Loire Valley, dedicated to making bright, drinkable wines from local favourites like Pineau d'Aunis, Cabernet Franc and Gamay. Their Gamay is just as charming as the label, fresh and friendly in the glass though with a savoury forest floor and bramble bush note that leaves a lingering feeling of sophistication in the glass.
