Curly Flat are mainstays of the Macedon Ranges today, to such a degree that it’s hard to believe they were part of the ‘new wave’ that hit the region in the 90s. The vines that go into their Estate Pinot sit in a sunny parcel near Lancefield, where the vines are tended to with the utmost care. The 2023 bottling shows the hallmarks of a cool vintage, shy on release but with fine bones that hint at great things to come. With a few years rest, it’s already begun to open out elegantly, with the verve of the vintage adding energetic brightness to the succulent palate.
