Lake's Folly Chardonnay 2023

"100% Chardonnay, grown on our single-site estate vineyard, in Pokolbin, Lower Hunter Valley. The Chardonnay vines are grown on the flat southern edge of the estate, on white loamy clay. The elevation is 50-100 metres. It is hand-picked early in the morning, and chilled before crushing & de-stemming, followed by part-fermentation in tank, before completing the second part of fermentation in new, one year-old, and two-year-old small, French oak (225L barriques). Lees stirring every week for 6 months, before bottling (which gives the textural element that is quite unique to Lake Folly's Chardonnay.) No use of malolactic fermentation. Intense pear and white peach aromas with hints of lemon peel, supported by finest quality French oak. The palate displays its hallmark traits of great line and length of flavour, with pear fruits also dominating the palate. It is structured and classy, medium-weight with seamless wellintegrated oak and a long, stylish acidity.
