From steep, rocky, well-drained vineyards with an average age of 85 years. The soils are mainly composed of limestone with 'nuances' of marl and clay. Generously proportioned with significant aging potential.
"
"The inherent power of the 2018 vintage chez Chevillon is readily apparent from the first wine in the lineup this year, as this is a big, deep and pure example of old vine Nuits AC. The bouquet is ripe and sappy, jumping from the glass in a mix of red and black cherries, venison, chocolate, dark soil tones, woodsmoke and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and ripely tannic, with a rock solid core of fruit, fine focus and grip and a long, nascently complex and chewy finish. This will be the first wine to come forward in the stables this year, but I would not touch a bottle until it has seen ten years flow swiftly by." 2028-2055+. - John Gilman
