This wine is showing superbly, bursting with aromas of cherries, wild berries, subtle soil tones and savoury nuance. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's satiny-textured and beautifully lively, framed by powdery tannins and bright acids.

90% Pinot Noir & 10% Gamay.
Coming from old vines with low yield, this full-bodied wine is characterized by a high phenolic concentration. Its colour is a dark ruby, tending towards black. The nose presents floral and black fruit aromas. It has a beautiful energy on the palate, marked by powerful black fruit flavours (blackberries, blackcurrants) at the attack. In the finish, there is a harmony of fine tannins balanced by beautiful acidity.

The Cuvée Classique is drawn predominantly from the domaine's vines situated mid-slope in the Clos de Vougeot, and also from some plots on the lower and upper parts. There are six parcels in total, including the lieux-dits of Montiottes Basses and Quartier Marei Bas (also home to the 1910-planted Vieilles Vignes parcel). The smallest holdings are those in the Quatorze-Journaux and Baudes-Saint-Martin-two parcels at the bottom of the slope which sandwich Etienne Grivot's vines. La Plante L'Abbé is at the … more

This ultra-rare wine, named after François' grandfather, was produced exclusively from the oldest vines in the Clos de Vougeot, planted in 1910; the same vines that gifted the vast majority of the fruit for the Vieilles Vignes. The BIG difference here is that only the first bunch on the first shoot of each vine was harvested and added to the fermenter. These first bunches, being furthest from the apical bud (and closest to the trunk), are smaller, on less vigorous … more

"(the domaine is the largest holder in Suchots with an incredible 2.16 ha)
Moderate wood sets off an intensely floral and highly-spiced nose that exhibits aromas of dark cherry, cassis, plum and sandalwood. The blatantly powerful, concentrated and once again very serious large-scaled flavors possess volume on the gorgeously long, balanced and focused finish that is both austere and very clearly built-to-age. In a word, excellent." Outstanding, Drink 2031+ - Burgound, Issue #69

"Here too there is just enough wood to remark upon surrounding the well-layered blend of red and blue pinot fruit, earth and a plenitude of spice and floral elements. The wonderfully energetic, sleek and equally muscular larger-scaled flavors also brim with minerality on the refined, focused, balanced and even more persistent finish. This is terrific and a wine that should easily repay two decades of cellaring if you have the patience." 95 points Allen Meadows, Burghound

Burghound, Outstanding - "Note: from Vigne Derrière.
A more elegant if vaguely exotic nose features notes of white peach, spice and lemon confit. The rich and relatively full-bodied flavors display good muscle and power on the stony, chalky and sneaky long finish. Note that this lovely effort is sufficiently tightly wound to require at least 5 years of keeping and should reward up to a decade of it. Drink 2028+"

Burghound - Outstanding - "Note: from Les Boirettes and Champ Jendreau.
Pretty, and distinctly floral-suffused aromas include those of citrus rind and white fleshed fruit. The very rich and generously proportioned middle weight flavors possess plenty of sappy dry extract before terminating in a powerful and borderline tannic bitter lemon-inflected finish. This would also benefit from at least a few years of keeping. Drink 2027+"
