From winemaker Dave Mackintosh comes this top notch Grigio from the Yarra. Dave tells us he deliberately named it Grigio over Gris, for its moreish, dry palate and mouth-watering acidity. Think green pears, fennel fronds, red apple skin and a touch of cinnamon toast. Superb!

Willowlake Vineyard has long been the source of some of the Yarra Valley's most impressive Chardonnays. Located in the Upper Yarra, this predominantly north-facing site is home to 40-year-old vines and red volcanic soils with gravel over mudstone. This is the swansong for BOAW Chardonnay from this vineyard, but 2021 was a heck of a year to finish, as Philip Rich's note below makes clear.

An incongruous blend of regions - Macedon and the Yarra Valley - has brought about something quite delicious here. We're always impressed with Bress' offerings and given how popular this wine is, safe to say you lot agree! Fragrant, soft and silky, with plenty of spice and body. A great classic Pinot Noir.

This Shiraz may be the best release to date under this label. A long, mild growing season allowed for greater hang time for the fruit resulting in a wine of incredible depth, spice and structure for a Shiraz of this price. As Luke says, "probably the ripest Crudo Shiraz we've made. We held the fruit on the vine longer than normal as conditions were so ideal."

"Made with 10% whole bunches and matured in French puncheons (33% new). A medium ruby garnet. A little reduction, which quickly blows off to reveal aromas of wild strawberries, damson plums, a little rose petal and subtle hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. There's good intensity on the medium-bodied palate together with fine but firm tannins. This will only get better over the next four to six years, if not longer." 95 points, Philip Rich, The Wine Companion

The Blue Label chardonnay was made with premium hand picked grapes, from selected local vineyards in the Yarra Valley. 2021 was a great vintage yielding fully ripe grapes with great balance of acidity. The wine was made in a traditional style using French Oak. It is medium to full in body with creamy almond meal texture and pleasing acidty. Bottled under screw-caps to ensure quality and consistency.

Displaying all the characteristics of the fine Yarra Valley Cabernet style. Finestra's Cabernets are built for the cellar and also provide drinking pleasure from around three years after vintage.
"Red and black fruits, baking spice, plenty of perfume, violet and pencils, and gee, it's a beautiful smelling wine and there's a slight varietal roast red capsicum/pimento thing that adds rather than detracts. It's medium-bodied, plenty of fleshy tannin grip, acidity is bright and crisp, and the finish is long and … more

Producer NOtes - "Gamay from Yarra Valley; 30% whole bunch, it spent two weeks fermenting on skins in concrete fermenter then pressed to large format french oak (foudre) for ageing over winter and spring. Bottled in October. This is a serious Gamay, Leila did a vintage with Mee Godard in Morgon. This is quite smoky and spicy on the nose (think 'toasted sesame seeds') with still some beautiful fruit coming through."

Blend of two parcels - whole berry (partial cab mac) Cabernet Sauvignon and 100% whole bunch fermented Shiraz. Blended together before going into old wood (11 months). Was taken into barrel on a good amount of fermentation lees. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Aromatic style, plenty of purple fruits. Mouth filling texture, without being heavy at all. In fact, the lees component, as well as the cab mac have made for a fruit forward flavoured, creamy textured wine, with a nice, … more
