De La Bêche is the intensely close planted vineyard of Tim Brown, a renowned and highly sought after viticulturist who consults to many wineries on close planted vines.
This, however is off his own tiny 0.5ha plot in Macedon, planted at 15000 vines per hectare.
The first vintage (2024) was made at Bindi with Michael Dhillon.
Tim has planted and uses a variety of clones here, and the resulting wine is a deep, rounded, rich Pinot with layers of plush dark fruit, spice and mushroom/earthy notes. In some ways it reminds us of Bass Phillip in the way the tannins present. Excellent 1st effort.
