Just Landed | Domaine Christian Moreau 2025

“The quality here is again so good that I’m tempted to say that Chablis has yet another leading light to add to the usual stars of Raveneau and Dauvissat. Allen Meadows, Burghound, 2019

On the heels of 2024’s endlessly chaotic vintage conditions, 2025 seemed like a breath of fresh air. Where the former saw a loss of 90% harvest, the latter only lost 50% - a meagre improvement, but better than nothing.

If pressure creates diamonds, then how to describe Christian Moreau’s undeniable successes in each year? The 2025’s are delicately nudging ripeness, retaining the zing of crushed shells and citrus blossoms as only the best Chablis can. Their Petit Chablis remains one of the very best of the ‘entry-level’ appellation, with each consequent tier offering a more focused insight into the terroir of this region.

The Grand Cru Assemblage is a blend of the domaine’s Grand Cru parcels - so low were the quantities harvested that it seemed better than to release a thimbleful of each. It’s grander than the sum of it’s parts, a melancholy chorus of the remaining fruit that sings beautifully even so. Most reports agree, there’s depth and density, as well as verve and saline complexity in the wine, all of which will benefit from a length stint in the cellar.
