A less-known piece of Yarra Yering lore is that Bailey Carrodus, an Englishman who arrived in Australia by way of New Zealand, named the vineyards at his estate after battles where the English triumphed over the French. Despite his thinly concealed disdain for French war tactics, he drew the line at hating on their wine. Or so we assume, given he went on to make a name for himself crafting wines like this exceptional Bordelaise-style Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec blend. Very much an homage to the greats of Bordeaux, the Agincourt is a stately wine with an elegant, lifted nose of mulberries, clove spice and a heady note of fresh tanned leather.
