92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot. This wine, the classic Voyager release, comes from hand-harvested parcels of fruit from the Estate's very best vineyard blocks. The vines in these blocks average 40 years! Each parcel is kept separate during fermentation with some parcels left on skins for three weeks. Maturation is in tight-grain French oak barriques (50% new and 50% two-year-old French oak) for 18 months before final blending.
The result in 2013 is a wine of great structure, complexity and depth, yet with the elegance and freshness that this wine has come to symbolise. There are lifted blackcurrant, cedar, and bay leaf notes on both the nose and palate, layers of sweet fruit and a fine, powdery close. A seamless and classy wine.
