In the face of a devastating harvest in 2023, blighted by fires that tore through Harcourt, winemaker Jake Winther described finding this parcel of fruit in Heathcote much like conquering his own personal Mount Olympus. The effort to bounce back that year was certainly Olympian in magnitude, but it paid off and then some. This is a gorgeous drop, and great example of modern Heathcote Shiraz. Markedly more on a dark fruit spectrum, it’s brimming with cassis, semi-dried black olive and a hint of sweet black liquorice and framed by ferrous tannins and whiff of cracked black pepper. Drink now with a healthy decant or put it away until 2033.
