For those of you lucky enough to have seen the first release, Oraterra’s Pinot Gris from 2024 builds upon all of the 2023’s best elements. Grown on vines at McCreanor vineyard in Martinborough Village, they’ve aimed for an almost Alsatian style that highlights the variety’s texture and aromatics. A bountiful bouquet of magnolia, orange blossom and ylang-ylang bursts from the bottle, over a ripe and succulent palate. Balancing soft persimmon fruit with a slight mineral salinity, it’s aged in old foudres to build texture. Drinking splendidly now, this wine shows great potential for ageing.
