Louis Roederer make great Champagnes, starting with this one and climbing to the legendary Cristal. They are also pioneers in transparency, providing far more information about the makeup of their wines than is typical of other Champagnes. This blend is released from the 246th year of the House's operation, hence the name. As with the previous release, the NV blend is made of 55% 5yo (2021) fruit, 35% from the 'perpetual reserve' and 10% from oak-aged base wines from as far back as 2012. Overall, the house style typically sits around near-to-equal proportions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with about one-fifth of the blend Pinot Meunier. This year, the precise numbers are 41% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 24% Pinot Meunier blend.
