Domaine Paul Benoit et Fils Arbois Melon de d'Arbois 2018

Melon d'Arbois, the local name for Chardonnay, is a clone that has been cultivated in Jura reportedly as far back as the 10th century, thriving in the chalky limestone soils comprised largely of the marine fossil gryphées. There's a floral lilt and softness of fruit unlike clones found elsewhere, that is complemented nicely by the chalkiness found in the wines. Aromatically, expect calla lilies, white peaches and crushed mineral chalk. Sip chilled alongside a slice of the best comté you can find.
