Bordeaux Blanc is a far more stately name than 'Sauvy B', apropos for a far more stately wine. Dry and textural, Château Thieuley captures the pear blossom and acacia notes of Sauvignon, with lemon citrus from the Semillon, and softness palate from time in barrel.

A blue-fruited Merlot from the left bank of Bordeaux. A smallish producer focused on prodcuing high quality merlot at reasonable prices. Think blueberry and dark plum, with a dusting of fine tannin.

Château Tronquoy-Lalande, situated in the heart of the appellation, is one of the oldest Saint-Estèphe wines. It takes its name from François Tronquoy, the estate's first owner, and the place-name La Lande, meaning the heath, on which the Château’s historic vineyard is planted.

Ruby / purple color, the intense and complex nose reveals hints of black fruit, brioche bread. The attack is vivid and velvety. The mid-palate enhanced the blackfruit notes, unveiled firstly on the nose and some toasty notes. The wine is juicy and fleshy with elegant tannins. Long length.

Hailing from the Right Bank of Bordeaux (which is the Merlot-dominant side), this beauty is 73% Merlot, 19% Cebernet Franc adn the blance Cabernet Sauvignon. Chateau de Bel-Air is hailed as one of the standouts of its appellation in books as far back as 1922, and sitting on a southerly-facing sunny uprising, this is a walk-up start for value in this part of the world.

Beautiful, already intense, golden colour. The nose presents a delicate woodiness followed by notes of honeysuckle and acacia flowers. The palate rapidly becomes full-bodied and generous, mingling notes of residual sugar and freshness. The fruit is discreet but the balance is perfect. The finish is long and lingering, accompanied by a hint of bitterness, that helps to enliven the flavours.

"The stunning, ripe dark berries and plums on the nose are attractively dressed and deliver a wealth of assertively rich and juicy dark-fruit flavors on the palate, in balanced and elegant yet powerful style. The best Réserve de la Comtesse for some time. Second wine of Château Pichon-Lalande." James Suckling
