Former sommelier Troy Walsh established Attwoods in 2010. He settled in Victoria with his wife Jane, coming home from years of experience in Michelin restaurants in London and then several vintages in Burgundy with traditional biodynamic house Domaine de L'Arlot and Domaine David Duband. His own Attwoods label brings home this strong Burgundian influence to cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of Victoria.
"Picked in the cool of the morning, Chardonnay from three distinct blocks were whole bunch pressed to tank with cloudy juice transferred to barrel the following day. Indigenous yeasts dictated ferment in various formats ranging from 300 and 500 litre barrels. From there barrels were stirred monthly until minimal sulphur was added in late Spring once malolactic ferment (MLF) was complete. Our 2022 Chardonnay has gone through 100% MLF along with 28% new oak with minimal filtration before bottling." - … more

"Our 2022 Estate Pinot Noir consists of eleven separate lots representing distinct aspects, clones and soils. Each of these parcels were handled with attention to vineyard details with the aim of maximising site expression. Indigenous yeasts connect all ferments but varying amounts of whole bunch, post ferment skin contact and individual oak handling were utilised respective to the lot characters themselves. Each of these parcels combine to form our most complex Pinot Noir, with fragrant spices and a red fruit … more

Michael Dhillon's eponymous side-project allows him freedom to make mistakes he might otherwise not have at his day job at Bindi. The Accidental Red started as a rosé gone wrong, then it became a red gone very right. Shiraz fermented with Merlot skins, juicy and vibrant, even better a little chilled.
Producer Notes - "This new project from the granite soils in the northern end of the Macedon Ranges at 460m above sea level is an exciting addition to our activities. The vineyard was established in 1995 and the fruit has ostensibly been "lost" interstate until new Victorian owners took over in spring 2021. The new regime has quickly invested in the infrastructure and fine-tuned activities and several top producers are sourcing fruit from this excellent site. The Riesling was harvested … more

The Right Block is a blend of these classic varieties grown on an east-facing slope of Granite Hills. Benefiting from the morning sun but less intense afternoon sun, this aspect advances more perfumed aromas.

Doug's Vineyard is situated on the outskirts of the township of Romsey, in the Macedon Ranges. Owned by the Newnham family it was planted 20 years ago to predominantly MV6 and smaller amounts of 114 and 115 clone pinot noir.
A cool hamlet, the vines sit at around 500m altitude, atop a North and North East facing hillside on red rocky volcanic basalt soil, moderating vigour and providing amazing intensity to the fruit, ripening … more

Producer Notes - "Place of Changing Winds is roughly equidistant between Mount Macedon and Mount Bullengarook, hence the name of this cuvée, which is essentially the most representative Pinot of the season. It's a fine, textural Pinot produced from all the estate's plots (including the highest-density vines), save what went into the tiny Beyond the Forest cuvée. It spent 18 months maturing in Stockinger casks with 50% new oak. It was bottled in January 2024."
