A young, vibrant calvados distilled from apple and pear in the Domfrontais region of Normandy.
According to the importers, "Long after the outcome of mobile phones, calling Victor Gontier on the only landline by their entrance door, one would enjoy a cacophony of chook noises , roosters calls, pigs squeals in the courtyard, confirming the authenticity of the place and thus of its production."
The controlled Domfrontais appellation requires at least 35 percent pear juice, which gives a softer character … more

Unique association of 11 botanicals including the gentian root cultivated in the Massif Central, gin is distilled in small batches, in a bain-marie in the historic stills of the Gentiane SALERS.
This slow distillation at low temperature preserves all the delicacy of the aromatics. The bitterness of the gentian is thus erased to extract the floral expression of its original terroir.

Uva Non Grata (Latin for 'ungrateful grapes') refers to the historical downgrading of Gamay while Pinot Noir became the ascendant of the two grapes in Burgundy. Gamay loves the granite/siliceous soils of the vineyards in the hills to the north west of Lyon in eastern France. The grapes were hand picked deliberately early to maintain freshness. In the cellar, grapes are vinified using traditional carbonic maceration techniques followed by a short cuvasion to keep the upfront, juicy fruit characters in … more

One of the foremost exceptional producers of a wildly undervalued region, is Trimbach from the sloping hills of Alsace. The fruit comes from the Geisberg Grand Cru, a partial component of their legendary cuvée Fréderic Emile. This is a single vineyard cuvée however, coming from old vines on a steep terraced slope.

An exceptional blend of 25- to 30-year-old reserve stocks of both Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne Cognacs, with distillations going back to the mid-1970s. It has a striking copper colour. On the nose there is an intense fragrance of roasted nuts, wood spice, leatherwood honey and baked pears, while the deep palate is viscous, dense even, with complex notes of Bosc pear, almond, Oloroso Sherry and orange peel. The finish is long and warming with hints of brown sugar, vanilla … more
A blend of Tesseron's sublime stocks of Grande Champagne Cognac distilled in the 1950s and aged for two generations in Limousin casks. Here the Grande Champagne terroir really comes into its own, with layer after layer of rich, hedonistic wave of roasted nuts, mixed peel, raisins, dark chocolate and wild honey notes. For all its mouth-coating richness and intensity, it has a knock-out pillowy texture, perfect spirit integration and some super-complex rancio notes on the long finish.

Composed of one 50ml bottle each of Lot Nos. 90, 76, 53 and 29, offered in a presentation box.
It's a great introduction to the spectacular Cognac Tesseron Collection.
Composition is this producer's first non-XO release, yet even here Tesseron have aimed to make something very special for its level. There is no added colour, it is the older material that brings the depth. It pours a bright, light amber colour, offers aromatics of spiced autumn fruit, white flowers and fresh plum, while on the palate there is that classic Tesseron texture, and vinous, fruity complexity - guaranteeing the cognac's sipping credentials. At the bar, we have found the … more
Importers notes - "A blend of grenache blanc, roussanne and a good dollop of viognier. Stone fruits, some quartz mineral notes that thread through the mid palate and sprinkle white pepper to finish. Some slippery textural elements provide length and its cut nicely by a streak crunch acid."
