We're head over heels for the latest release Marco Lubiana's Derwent Valley Chardonnay. If you're familiar with past vintages, you'll find that the 2024 feels like an almost entirely different wine. The vintage was temperate and the fruit, pristine, more than making up for the dismal conditions in 2023. As such, it's showing a greater power and intensity to the palate, generosity is tempered by acidity and delicate handling, making for a sumptuous yet restrained Chardonnay. It will age beautifully if you can bear to wait, otherwise, make sure it gets lots of air and a big glass to swirl in.
