Pedro Peciña founded the bodega with his 3 children in 1992 after a long stint as the vineyard manager for La Rioja Alta.
For such a young bodega the family holds traditional aging in high regard. Grape growing is done organically, picking and sorting by hand with parcel by parcel fermentation in stainless steel tank. This is where they embrace the innovation and seek quality above all.
Further aging in bottle is the norm here and regular museum parcels are released. These are classic wines of Rioja without the price tag that comes with some of those traditionalist names. Pecina has been referred to as "the poor man’s Tondonia," they definitely beggar belief when talking value in the current landscape of quality wine

"Is there a better value red in Rioja? There's certainly not much competition at this kind of price. Matured for two years in American oak and then bottle before release, this is a seamless, alluringly scented assemblage of Tempranillo, 3% Garnacha and 2% Graciano with classic dill, clove and vanilla aromas, succulent summer pudding flavours and a savoury finish." 94 Pts, Tim Atkin - 2025-35 - 2025 Rioja Report - Magnum format tasted
