Greywacke Pinot Noir 2023

From Kevin Judd, winemaker behind Cloudy Bay's rise to fame, we have the Greywacke Estate Pinot Noir, grown in the cool clay of Marlborough's Southern Valleys. This Pinot Noir is among the best examples of what Marlborough Pinot can offer. Boysenberry fruit up front, with a fine grained tannin and dark plum fruit on the mid-palate, transitions eamlessly into five spice, bayleaf & bergamot on the finish. 2023 was a cooler vintage, but a lot better in the South Island than the North, yielding a wine with pronounced aromatics and definite potential for ageing.

95 points - Cam Douglas, MS

Fabulous bouquet with complexity and depth, purity of fruit and a sense of site, winemaking style and intrigue. Aromas and flavours of spiced blackcurrant and dark cherry, hay and dried herb, stone and barrel smoke and violet. Dry, a firm texture with polished tannins and medium+ acid line. As the wine opens out in glass the core flavours and texture show more intensity and complexity, a wine that will continue to age and develop. Best drinking from 2027 through 2037.
