Ca' del Baio (house of the dark horse), has been in the Grasso family for four generations since 1870. Today, Giulio and Luciana along with their three very driven and passionate daughters, Paola, Valentina and Federica, handle all areas of the business from viticulture and winemaking to sales, marketing and hospitality.
This is the winery's most traditional Barbaresco, grown from the Vallegrande Cru in Treiso, which surrounds the winery at a height of around 400 metres. Predominantly west facing and established in the late 1960s, this site produces exceptional fruit that consistently demonstrates refined elegance and exemplifies Barbaresco at its finest. The 2022 vintage was fermented and macerated in steel for 2 weeks, then racked off into the same oak regime as their 'Autinbej' Barbaresco.

This wine displays a classic garnet red colour, characteristic of its variety and origin. On the nose, it offers an intense bouquet dominated by powerful fruit aromas, complemented by nuances of dried flowers and earthy underbrush. The palate is dry, smooth and rounded, presenting a harmonious balance. The finish is warm, with nicely balanced tannins contributing to the overall elegance.
