The idiosyncratic, biodynamic and greatly admired Bass Phillip Premium Pinot Noir, aged in French Allier barriques for 18 months, is a defining Victorian pinot noir. Uplifting and memorable, this multi-layered and nuanced wine reflects a superb obsession, based on a low-cropping, four-hectare vineyard site at Leongatha. This wine is long in flavour, powerful & complex. It can be cellared for many years. 2021 - Glace cherries and savory, dusty notes greet the nose initially but also showing hints of vanilla and spice; refined and poised at this stage but rest assured complexity will crescendo with time. The palate is svelte and satiny, lovely balance, resolved and complete with lovely length that will only get better with age. If drunk young we recommend decanting for an hour or so.

"My, my, what a wine with its depth and structure as much as its beauty and ethereal qualities. While there are the usual dark cherries and heady aromas of baking spices, there’s very much a savoury edge to this. Fuller bodied with an abundance of richness and stately raw-silk tannins. This is complex, superbly balanced and built to last a long time. But gee, it's compelling now."
