Nikos Douloufakis has almost single-handedly revived the Vidiano grape, a rare, indigenous white variety from the island of Crete. Not unlike the better known grape Assyrtiko, Vidiano handles heat with aplomb and makes a crisp, remarkably textural wine. Almost Semillon-like in profile, green apples and fresh cut herbs, a waft of honey and fine chalky finish.
