"The Heathcote Col Mountain Grenache project continues to gain pace. The rocky and steep Col Mountain vineyard is a fabulous site for this impressive variety. It delivers delicious fruit and site pure wine in a medium bodied style. The wine is made like our Pinot Noir, with wild yeast in open fermenters and handled quite gently. The 2024 has a charming purity that lifts from the glass; raspberry, pomegranate, red roses and a little earth. The palate is supple and fresh with a lovely intense, creamy flow. There is a medium weight richness that has grip and drive through the balanced and fine tannins typical of this variety on this site. It will improve for another four years and drink well, we expect, for half a dozen after that. This is the fifth vintage of Grenache we have released from Col Mountain and the consistency of the wines has been very pleasing." Winery Notes
