Mencia is one of the rare gems that you only find in Spain. Similar to Cab Franc with its crushed raspberries and floral characters paired with firm structure. This is probably the best introduction to variety around, plus it is a stunning wine in its own right. Petalos is a regional expression of Bierzo Mencía, a style largely responsible for putting Mencía on the global wine map, while the Corullon is akin to their 'Grand Cru' bottling.

"Pétalos leads with lashings of complex florals: field herb, dried sage, red lavender, violet, pepper tree and rose. There's fresh clay dirt and lissom red plum and sour cherry fruits: earthy and bright, it sums Mencia and Bierzo perfectly. The palate has nicely moderated fruit plushness in a choc-blackberry register. Petalos is soft, open, round, pretty and fresh with nice slick-but-earthy tannins and smoky minerals.
