“Not only the greatest wine to ever emerge from the hallowed halls of Yalumba, it is categorically the finest exemplar of the great of the great Australian blend of the modern era, and the equal of the greatest in history” 100 points, Tyson Stelzer
“…an x-factor that transports into an otherworldly plane that is simply jaw-dropping” 20+/20 points, Matthew Jukes
“…a release that challenge[s] the Granges and the Hill of Graces” Ken Gargett
Every once in a while, a release arrives that stops us in our tracks and demands undivided attention. Undeniably, the 2021 Yalumba Caley is one of these. I’ve seen it compared to the 1962 Penfold’s Grange, a historic release of mythical repute, and not one, but two seasoned experts awarding perfect scores, and a chorus of 99’s and 98’s after that.
The verdict is in - this is one to make space in the cellar for.
In addition to the Caley, and the 2023 Yalumba Signature, we’re offering the 2016 releases of each. The 2016 Caley is an exceptional vintage to compare with the 2021, having been the next most recent vintage to receive a perfect score from Matthew Jukes.
The Caley
A bastion of classic Australian winemaking, the Cabernet Shiraz blend, is elevated here to soaring heights by Yalumba’s ‘The Caley’. As a Torero might rein in a bull, the Caley captures two of Australia’s most powerful regions, bringing together Coonawarra Cabernet and Barossa Shiraz in a single bottle.
