Halliday Wine Companion "Shiraz sourced from vines planted in 1858 and the 1940s in the Eden Valley. Bright crimson in the glass with aromas of macerated satsuma plum, blackberry and blackcurrant pastille. Hints of violets, sage, licorice, bay leaf, roasting meats, panforte, salumi and earth. Full bodied with an elegant line, fine-grained tannins and plenty of drive and a sense of grace as it trails off."

Winery Notes - "As a blend of our best Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard sites, the Estate bottling is one of the most compelling illustrations of the Stonestreet Mountain. Winemaker Lisa Valtenbergs blends this wine with shrewd precision, balancing aromatic intrigue, texture and the Mayacamas' signature structural elements into a pure refection of the vintage. The 2016 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon starts out with savory aromas of blackberry, dark plum, blood orange, Star Anise and black cherry. As the wine opens, deep fruit … more

Winery notes "Intense pear and lifted orange blossom aromas welcome you to this Chardonnay with ripe peach and buttered toast richness on the palate. This is a generous cool climate Chardonnay, with subtle oak flavours from maturation in 40% new French barriques and 40% 2 -4 year old oak. Some leesy flavours from Malolactic fermentation and prolonged contact with the yeast lees. Rich gently ripened fruit, fine oak integration and a well-rounded palate with a striking clean fresh finish."

The Kome Shochu from Sugii Shuzo shows an aromatic nose of roasted rice and fragrant spice. The palate has impeccable balance with hints of rice, sweet spice and a humble savoury earthiness underneath. The finish is long, spiced and warming. Drink over a few ice cubes.

From the house of Suntory, haku® is the Premium japanese craft Vodka.
The name haku means "white" in Japanese and refers to the 100% Japanese white rice that is the origin of the liquid. Haku is different from other vodkas which are made from potato, corn or wheat and uses a uniquely Japanese method of bamboo charcoal filtering.
Toki is a blended whisky from Suntory's three distilleries: Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. This is a round and sweet blend with a refreshing citrus character and a spicy finish. A light-bodied whisky that is delightfully easy to sip. Ripe apples, vanilla, pear, walnut, and green tea greet the nose, as the palate takes on chewier flavors of shortbread and marshmallow. A delicate floral quality starts to emerge with a little ice, adding some peach and nectarine with white chocolate and … more
Yes, it's true - the 2024 Halliday Wine Guide is out and Sutton Grange's humble Fairbank rosé scored a whopping 97 points. We're feeling a little smug about it. Having stocked the wine for many a vintage, we've known for a while that its a knock out! Dry, fresh and textural, this rosé gives boatloads of charm, with scents of honeydew melon, pink lady apples and aperol spritz on a summer's day.

"What a follow-up to the remarkable 2018 debut. The high perfumed notes strike immediately and almost define what is to follow. It's a very pretty wine with more seductive perfumed notes than the 2018, most likely a result of the slightly cooler vintage. There is about 12 per cent Mourvèdre in the blend and all the fruit comes off the Swinney bush vines. Only large-format seasoned oak has been used. A striking wine of refinement and power that delivers with … more

Producer Notes - "Each year I source and select grapes from a different single vineyard in the Heathcote region, therefore each year the wine will have a different name to reflect the vintage."
"The Syrahmi wines are nothing if not complex. This is meaty, spicy, floral and no doubt more, its plum-shot heart surrounded by all manner of goings on. Floral notes sit high in the wine, as do smoked meat characters and sweet cedar. It's a hell … more

Producer Notes "The 2018 Syrahmi La La is our eighth release - coming from an outstanding vintage that had good fruit set, producing grapes with lovely colour and intensity. The grapes were hand picked in the Greenstone vineyard, which is set on 550 million year old Pre-Cambrian era soils at 200m elevation, and fermentation took place with 100% whole bunch, wild yeasts and hand plunging. The wine then aged in 100% new 600L Stockinger barrel for 50 months (the longest … more

Far and away the best value offering from Syrahmi, this is a great example of modern Heathcote at the fraction of the price of some of the greats. Excellent fruit, handled gently and framed with restrained oak. The wine is darkly purple and blue fruited, with sumptuous acidity and a fresh turned earth mineral quality to the finish.
