Marli Russell by Mount Mary RP1 Marsanne Roussanne 2021

50% Marsanne, 50% Roussanne.

A wine of power and richness, the blend this year is 50/50 Marsanne/Roussanne. The nose shows some citrus, peach, apricot ginger spice and a touch of reductive complexity. The palate shows citrus, pear and apricot flavours intermingled with some zesty, spicy complexity. When enjoyed at the right temperature there is an abundance of honeyed-creamy notes, offset by a textural component from well-balanced phenolics.

"Honey, flowers, stonefruit and citrus, a little cinnamon, brine and flint. It's mediumbodied, has a lovely honey gloss and viscosity, but it's cut back firmly by bright ripe lemon acidity, and also has some preserved lemon zestiness and flavour too. It also has a bit of cornflake taste, which I like. The finish is tight and juicy, with tangerine and grapefruit. I think this will age really well" Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
