2021 began as a challenging vintage in the Yarra Valley due to summer and autumn rains and cooler than average temperatures during the growing season. This was followed by a long slow ripening period which is ideal for producing Pinot Noir of excellent quality.
The dry grown fruit comes from Syme, Yarra. Vineyard is east facing at 115m altitude on heavy clay sub soil with a silty clay loam top. Grapes are hand picked and 80% de-stemmed. 20 days on skins then pressed. 30% whole bunch. A few gentle punch downs. Aged 10 months in French barriques (10% new) and racked once. Lightly filtered before bottling.
'Yarra Pinots are often very fine, delicate examples of Pinot Noir and this years wine is no exception. Wonderfully aromatic blend of summer berries and floral, amost lavender characters. The wine dances across your palate and finishes with long, silky tannins.'
