Producer Notes - "Our Estate Pinot is a selection of the best barrels of our Leongatha vineyard.
Fragrant potpourri of aromas, rose petals and red berry notes, with a hint of China tea; the very essence of Pinot Noir. A classic iron fist in a velvet glove palate. A lush fruit driven middle, enveloped by powdery tannins with delicious flavours that dance delicately across the palate."

Less than one acre, planted since 1979. This section of the vineyard is more than 40 years old today , it has started to deliver complex nuances and has a very long-flavour, lingers cleanly on your palate.

"The idiosyncratic, biodynamic and greatly admired Bass Phillip Premium Pinot Noir, aged in French Allier barriques for 18 months, is a defining Victorian pinot noir. Uplifting and memorable, this multi-layered and nuanced wine reflects a superb obsession, based on a low-cropping, four-hectare vineyard site at Leongatha. This wine is long in flavour, powerful & complex. It can be cellared for many years.

We can hardly believe how well priced this Pinot is, a rare beast in the ever more expensive region of Gippsland. Classic Gippsland character, bright fruit that evokes raspberries and ripe cherry tomatoes, with a touch of leafy stemminess on the finish that makes this wine very, very drinkable.

Producer Notes - "Tilson Vineyard overlooks the South Gippsland Highway just on the outskirts of Leongatha. We recently started leasing this beautiful east facing vineyard from Byron and Courtney Hill. Like Dirt 1 at Berrys Creek, the soils here are deep, red volcanic clays. The grapes usually ripen slightly after Berrys Creek and have the most acidity of all the sites.
The 2023 season was a tough season, wet spring- which reduced yields down by 30%. The ripening season was cool, … more

"This dry grown vineyard was planted in 1981 on old, red volcanic soils at 150m elevation. There are four separate parcels of Pinot Noir, two north facing blocks of MV6 and another of Abel, as well as a more sheltered south facing block of MV6. The wine smells of ripe dark fruits including blueberry, blackberry and blackcurrant as well poached autumnal fruits - quince, medlar and pear. The palate is rich and weighty with rose hip, mace and black pepper. … more

Now here's a Pinot that fits the Bill! The Cathedral is as effusive and charming as the man who made it, and while his more serious wines need time in the cellar, this one is destined to be drunk young and often. Juicy, supple red fruits leap out of the glass, with a whiff of cinnamon spice to finish.
