"This is grown at Leongatha South, South Gippsland, Victoria. Bass Phillip uses close planting, extremely low cropping, no toxic chemicals, & natural winemaking. We respect the forces of nature, driven by the Moon, the Planets, and the Earth. This wine always has intensity, full natural acidity and great length. It will develop over the next eight years plus. Normally Estate chardonnay was matured in approximately 20% new oak. It has aromas of Lifted citrus & stone fruit. Well balanced, vibrant … more
Producer Notes - "Our Estate Pinot is a selection of the best barrels of our Leongatha vineyard.
Fragrant potpourri of aromas, rose petals and red berry notes, with a hint of China tea; the very essence of Pinot Noir. A classic iron fist in a velvet glove palate. A lush fruit driven middle, enveloped by powdery tannins with delicious flavours that dance delicately across the palate."

What began as a hobby for winemaker at the time, Phillip Jones, has carried on through the years as something of a cult wine. Made in tiny quantities, the 2019 is all classic Gewurz character - chewy phenolics to the palate, scented with rose petals and candied ginger. Retaining freshness from the cooling effects of the Gippsland climate, a delicious and utterly unique wine.

Original 1979 planting: two to three barrels per year. Always intense in citrus fruits and powerful flavour. Pronounced minerality. Long palate and long-keeping. Original Estate vineyard; subtle but powerful wine with 100% new oak.
The 2015 wines are products of very high quality vintage, like most of southern Victoria; particularly Pinot Noir. As is the norm at Bass Phillip we are very selective with the fruit for these wines. The top-level wines, Reserve, Premium, Estate Pinot Noir & Premium Chardonnay … more
Bass River is one of the founding grape growing estates in South Gippsland. The House Block was planted over 20 years ago and continues to be nurtured by the Butera Family.
Sweet redcurrant flavours accented by crushed herbs. The palate is weighty and textured with flavours that extends to the finish. There is a lot of fruit sweetness, cherry and spice with very silky tannins.
We can hardly believe how well priced this Pinot is, a rare beast in the ever more expensive region of Gippsland. Classic Gippsland character, bright fruit that evokes raspberries and ripe cherry tomatoes, with a touch of leafy stemminess on the finish that makes this wine very, very drinkable.
" 'All the Dirts' refers to our Pinot Noir that is a blend of all the vineyards that we work with. We strive for this wine to be a reflection South Gippsland Pinot Noir, ready to drink from the outset, with layers of flavour, juicy mid-palate and a silky finish. For us, Pinot should be harmonious, balanced, beautiful and delicious." - Winery Notes
The Lightfoot & Sons Myrtle Point Pinot Noir Pinot Noir is an elegant, structured wine, reflecting low-yield viticultural practices and the cool semi-maritime climate. Lovely aromas of cherry and violets are complemented by some more savoury, earthy notes. On the palate these elements are balanced with well integrated French oak and fine tannins, both adding complexity to the wine.

Producer Notes - "Aromas of strawberry, sour cherry and aniseed. A savoury dominant palate with spice, dried herbs and sour cherry. A light to medium bodied Pinot Noir with fine acidity and subtle tannins. Great by itself or as a partner to asian style foods or hard cheeses."

Now here's a Pinot that fits the Bill! The Cathedral is as effusive and charming as the man who made it, and while his more serious wines need time in the cellar, this one is destined to be drunk young and often. Juicy, supple red fruits leap out of the glass, with a whiff of cinnamon spice to finish.
