Ellena Giuseppe Langhe Nascetta 2019

A once popular grape in the Langhe, Nascetta was abandoned at the end of the 19th century, with Piedmontese growers focusing on the red varieties that define the region. However, the past decade has seen a small resurgence for this semi-aromatic grape, which under the right conditions can be indulgently scented and well suited for medium term ageing. The Ellena Nascetta is a classic, hailing from a 0.5 hectare plot (there is approximately 10 hectares of Nascetta in the world) sitting at 300m elevation. Lovely delicate florals accompany scents of soft, ripe green pears and slices of melon, acacia, honeysuckle and sage. The palate offers succulent acidity and a slight grippy quality that makes it an ideal food wine.
