The 2017 Amarone is simply stunning with a very complex nose of dark red flowers, soft ripe cherries and spice notes . But its the freshness and precision which sets this apart from other wines, which makes this so complete, elegant and powerful.

Amarone in the product of the ancient wine-making method called "appassimento" (drying of the grapes). At the end of September to the beginning of October, the best clusters of grapes from the hillside vineyards are picked and placed on bamboo racks. The grapes are then left to dry for 48 hours in rooms with controlled atmospheres (controlled humidity and forced ventilation) and then in large rooms in the old farmhouses in the hills until about the middle of January. Mostly Garganega with sauvignon, Saorin and a touch of Trebbiano, beautiful floral, then hints of smoke and stonefruit. Very vibrant and tightly wound style with good acidity and mineral notes to finish.

Bardolino's time has come! The junior sibling to it's neighbour Valpolicella, Bardolino is 'Italy's Beaujolais'. These lighter, even chillable but still reds are ideal for much of the style of modern Australian eating.
60% Corvina with Rondinella and Molinara making up the remaining 40%.
As is often the case with ripasso style wines, this wine is a wonderful mix of bright, fresh aromatics, and dark, savoury intensity. The nose is fragrant, packed with red cherries, dried herbs, and a subtle clove and nutmeg spice. The palate is intense and vibrant, accompanied by persistent acidity and fine tannins.
Soave, in Italian, means gentle, soft, suave - an appropriate name for this small town east of
Verona, encircled by the original enclosures of the town and dominated by a 13th century fortress.
At the heart of the Classico zone is the Pieropan property, which dates back to 1890. Their Classico is mostly Garganega with about 10-15% Trebbiano di Soave, this is wonderfully aromatic - not a

The inactive volcano Monte Calvarina is home to the vines of this Estate. The high altitude and volcanic soils are the reason Antonio Fattori can make compelx and elegant wines. The use of appassimento (sun drying of grapes) adds further depth of flavour. This is a Soave producer of the highest order. Interestingly, Antonio only uses Garganega in his three wines. However, after tasting his wines it is obvious they don’t need anything extra.

Hailing from the lower slopes of the Dolomites are the wines of Antonio Fattori. Locally regarded as exceptionally talented in cultivating Garganega and Pinot Grigio and producing wines that speak of the place they came from. The Soave is top notch and a great value for the dollars. Peachy stone fruit and zesty citrus, with a hint of green almond and sea-spray minerality.
A lighter and brighter example of the Valpolicella region, a region often recognised for its sappy, sickly reds, this wine is charming and brings scents of ripe cherries, soft raspberries, fresh tobacco and dried sage. The palate is more moderate than expected too, with refreshing acidity and a well-structured frame of tannins.
