60% Syrah, 40% Grenache.
Unusually for Cotes du Rhone this is majority Shiraz, rather than Grenache. As a result the Saint-Esprit's deep color has a dark, plum-like hue. The nose is classical Syrah, with berry fruit, violet and licorice. It has a full, rounded palate with delicate tannins. Excellent value.

"While the stars of the cellars are the single-vineyard wines from Côte-Rôtie, the Guigal family takes pride in all of the wines they produce, and one reliable indicator of the quality of a Southern Rhône vintage is the quality and volume produced of the négoce Côtes du Rhône, which is typically around 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre...The 2019 Cotes du Rhone features scents of blackberries, raspberries and cherries. Medium to full-bodied, it's atypically rich and structured-a fine, balanced … more

Importers notes - "A blend of grenache blanc, roussanne and a good dollop of viognier. Stone fruits, some quartz mineral notes that thread through the mid palate and sprinkle white pepper to finish. Some slippery textural elements provide length and its cut nicely by a streak crunch acid."

Don't confuse La Part des Vivants with the tons of Côtes du Rhônes stacked hither and thither throughout your retail store of choice. Most CdR's you'll find are from the southern Rhône and based on Grenache. And though many are nice, drinkable wines, they couldn't be more different than this dark, northern counterpart comprised mostly of Syrah and sourced from the vineyard slopes around Ampuis. Northern Côte du Rhône expresses a much darker component of fruit flavors such as wild … more

"Our white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is attractive when young within 2 or 3 years following the harvest, if you are looking for the wines to be fragrant, fruity and elegant. Lovers of more mature white wines should wait another five years or more until our wines develop their secondary aromas: honey,
white truffle and reminiscent of acacia." - From the producer.
