"A notably ripe nose has a mildly roasted character to it yet there is still good freshness to the poached plum, cassis and softly spicy aromas. There is equally good verve to the succulent but punchy and delicious flavors that are decidedly compact and tightly wound today on the impressively long and austere finish. This is very Taillepieds in the sense that it's borderline strict, yet the underlying components are present for this to be superb one day." Outstanding, 91-94 … more

Burghound 93 Points "This is spicier still with its more sauvage-infused nose of dark currant, black cherry and whiff of green tea. The sleek, refined and less muscular but more mineral-driven flavors possess a velvety mid-palate that contrasts with the moderately austere and sneaky long finish. This isn't quite as vibrant as the Bressandes and needs time to develop better depth, but everything appears to be present for that to occur over time. Patience strongly recommended.'"

Burghound 93 Points "Slightly riper aromas of spiced plum, purple fruit and plenty of earth complement the bigger-bodied and more powerful flavors that flash a subtle minerality on the firm, serious, youthfully austere and even more compact finale that is noticeably better-balanced. The length is excellent and overall, this is textbook Bressandes."

"The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is brilliant, unfurling in the glass with aromas of citrus zest, white peach, white flowers, fresh mint and wet stones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and dense, ??ghtly wound palate that's sa??ny but chiseled, with chalky structuring extract and a long, mineral finish." 94-96 Points, William Kelley - The Wine Advocate

'Here too the pretty nose is both cool and elegant with its aromas of dark berry liqueur, poached plum and floral scents. Once again there is an appealing sleekness to the slightly bigger-bodied yet still refined flavors that exude a subtle salinity onto the detailed, powerful and focused finish that also possesses a touch of youthful austerity..' 90-93 points Allen Meadows - burghound.com

Germain's village blend is now sourced from eight lieux-dits, including the excellent Les Vireuils, Clos du Cromin and Les Pellans. The latest addition to the pack is a parcel of Les Corbins, a superb rocky vineyard on the Volnay side of the village that lovers of Domaine Vincent Dancer will know well. Some of the vines from this new plot date back to 1929, bringing the average vine age for this cuvée to over 50 years old.

An attractively fresh nose is comprised by notes of both red and dark currant, earth and a whiff of oak. The medium weight flavors possess reasonably good underlying tension and complexity though the finish, while reasonably persistent, is slightly drying. There are aspects to admire but it would be fair to say that the balance isn't quite completely dialed in. In sum, this is good but … more

Guillaume Guiton, after studies in Beaune and an apprenticeship in several wineries in Burgundy and as far away as as Rosemount in Australia, is now in charge of the domaine founded 35 years ago by his father Jean. Since he took over in 2005 (and we discovered him with the lovely 2009 vintage) he has hugely increased quality here, earning rave notices from Jancis Robinson and La Revue du Vin de France among others. The family’s 11 hectares of vines, … more

"There is a lovely perfumed quality to the very fresh red currant and newly turned earth scents where a trace of the sauvage creeps in. I very much like the texture of the medium-bodied and lightly stony flavors that possess very good mid-palate density where a mild hint of rusticity creeps in on the compact, linear and impressively persistent finish. This is definitely Pommard in character but a relatively refined one.". 90-93, Outstanding. Burghound Issue #73
