Gaillard has captured that perfect balance of hedonistic opulence and mineral refreshment in a way that only Condrieu can produce. His pared back winemaking style provides the perfect canvas for the wine to paint its own picture on, one of ripe yellow peaches, summer honeysuckle blossoms and fragrant spice.

This is a Vins doux Naturel style, made from Muscat à Petits Grains.
The fermentation is stopped when half of the sugar in the must is converted into alcohol by adding neutral alcohol. This has the effect of maintaining the sweetness from the sugar in the wine.
The nose is beautifully aromatic and fresh evoking ripe peach, apricot and grape nuances; the fortification is first class as it is barely noticeable, the wine is loaded with delicate florals and elegance. … more

Cracking Marsanne from Yves Cuilleron, a producer one could describe both stylistically and geographically as 'left of centre'. While the estate has parcels in most of the Northern Rhone's major appellations, they also craft wines from fruit grown in the Collines Rhodaniennes. Their Marsanne is loaded with crisp acidity and pleasantly grippy phenolics, tempered by succulent stonefruit and white floral notes on the rich palate.

Importers notes - "A blend of grenache blanc, roussanne and a good dollop of viognier. Stone fruits, some quartz mineral notes that thread through the mid palate and sprinkle white pepper to finish. Some slippery textural elements provide length and its cut nicely by a streak crunch acid."

A classic a Rhone as you could possibly hope for - particularly from one not actually labelled Rhone! Yves Cuilleron's new wave style of winemaking strikes a balance between old and new techniques in the Rhone. The Syrah from this wine is pulled from parcels just beside some of the finest northern vineyards in the Rhone, evident in the depth and intensity of the wine. Graphite and ink, black olive tapenade and burning boughs of cedar. Its sumptuous and savoury … more

The 2020 Côtes Du Rhône ‘Vieilles Vignes’ – 90% Grenache with Syrah/Mourvèdre/Cinsault. Planted in the 1920’s which is from very old vines (important with Grenache) literally across the border of the Châteauneuf du Pâpe AOP is by far the best example of this wine that I have seen, like his CNDP above. This is from a plot planted in 1920 and almost legally Châteauneuf du Pâpe; it’s vines are separated from the more venerable appellation by a skinny country road…right … more

"While the stars of the cellars are the single-vineyard wines from Côte-Rôtie, the Guigal family takes pride in all of the wines they produce, and one reliable indicator of the quality of a Southern Rhône vintage is the quality and volume produced of the négoce Côtes du Rhône, which is typically around 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre...The 2019 Cotes du Rhone features scents of blackberries, raspberries and cherries.
