Luigi Baudana Barolo Ceretta 2017

'Cerretta, one of my favourite vineyards, with maybe 13 or so producers knocking out something from this cru. Interesting year is 2017, chewy, ripe, not the quality of say, 2013, 2015, or 2016, but still of merit. Of the coming vintages, 2018 will be finer and more bony, though 2019 will perhaps be the one to watch. Importer: CellarHand

Pretty ripe offering here, sooty, dark plum and red berries, new leather and menthol. Full-bodied, liquorice and stewed plum, firm graphite tannin, a bit of warmth, but with a stony 'mineral' feel to tannin. Juicy baked fruit and earthy flavours to close. A bit of a thumper, but very good.'
